It’s the jolliest time of the year again! Christmas trees, presents, chirpy Christmas carols and best of all, a reason to dress up!
As with all festivities celebrated in our corner of the world, new clothes are in order. For Chinese New Year, it’s the color red and oriental fabric. For Hari Raya, it’s green and newest baju fashion trend. And Christmas? Hmmm…
Well, I’m here to tell you the fashion do’s and don’ts for Christmastime.
1. Don’t Dress Like Santa Or His Elves
Just because the icon of Christmas dresses in a red suit with white wool, it doesn’t mean you have to too. Red and white has so many shades that there are endless possibilities you can blend for the right mix for a stylish look. Explore, experiment and test! Don’t stick to harsh white and cherry red.

Don’t EVER wear this.
2. Other Colors Are Not Forbidden, You Know.
One Christmas, I actually wore red and white of the first day, white and red on the second, and then, dressed up as a candy cane the next. I realise my mistake now. Play around with other colors with white and red accents here and there. For example, you can sport a silver gown with red embroidery or an off-white halter dress with gold sequins.

3. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.
Accessories are a must for all occasions, and this goes for Christmas too. And no, a woolen red cap with a white bob does NOT count. But it’s not too tacky to wear Christmas themed jewelry, especially when they look like those from Tiffany & Co.

4. Christmas Calls For High Heels
No slippers or sandals are allowed during Christmas. Christmas is a time for celebration, and you do not celebrate in anything less than high heels. Your shoes are the final knot in your Christmas outfit. Your perfect dress with all the right accessories can be ruined by the wrong shoes. Opt for strappy high heels that are elegant-looking and make sure your shoes compliment your ensemble.

5. C O M F O R T
And the best advice I can give to you, is to make comfort a crucial factor in picking out your Christmas gear. Remember, there are TWELVE days of Christmas. You don’t want to be constantly pulling up your top or walk around in excruciating painful shoes during the celebrations.
What I love about Christmas is that you get to dress up a little more than you can at other festivities. No one will blink twice if you come in a beautiful long gown to a Christmas dinner or if you wear glittery jewelry.
Here are a few outfits that caught my eye that I’d love to have for Christmas 2010.

Long Gowns

Soft muted colors. LOVE these.
So I hope this post will inspire your style this Christmas season. Don’t be afraid to try something different this Christmas. Even if you think you fashion flopped this Christmas, don’t worry! There’s always next Christmas!
Have a very merry and trendy Christmas!

Lol, this post is making me excited for my shopping trip due a couple weeks time!! And BT, yeah, show us a pic of u in that Santa suit.
Wow this made me think about what I wore for Christmas. I never intentionally think of dressing up for the season but somehow I picked out white button down with 3/4 sleeves, boat shoes and the “now becoming a classic” yellow shorts. :)
